RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)

Carnatia takes the little eye target-machine and looks at it as Shio leaves. Clearly made more witht he human head physic in mind. Carna makeshiftly puts it onto her face, while she feels awkward with it, she cannot complain, she sees the aiming system and nods to herself. It would help. Carna walks out of the hole int he back wall and looks up to the copter int he sky.

Carna makes a powerful stance encasing herself in golden Esper armour. Glancing to the copter, then throws her hands to the side two projections of her psyblade appear, they start spinning slowly at first. They would track the copter like heat seeking missiles. The projections take off flying into the sky after the copter. She then starts running in a zig-zag order watching the copter and planning her next move.

Rexana watches the small Aurin in her grasp. So small and meek, her futile attempts at resisting end without Rexana needing to do anything. Which Rexana thought was probably a very smart thing on the girls part. The muffled response to her greeting shows no response from Rexana. Her yellow crystals and eyes glow a moment, then then speaks out loud, "I have one of their pups. Tried hiding. This could be useful." Rexana is of course radioing to the rest of the unit.

Rexana turns and holds Taru at a better way for carrying a hostage, still covering her mouth, but also in a way to turn and use the girl as a shield. Then she glides to the backdoor of the kitchen. There is a small window, Rexana peaks through. The other Aurin was aiming for the copter, looking the other way. Using her other hand, Rexana opens the kitchen door and beelines it for cover away from the saloon.

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
Cathal was watching a fucking circus of explosions and ongoing mayhem. His eyes widened as he was sure was Dylan seemingly porting into the middle of the chopper and trying to bomb it. An entire moment of disbelief passed over the man as he watched a Mechari vault back into the chopper. Seems I hired a fucking circus. His attention wavered for an entire minute as he ran his eyes over the entire battle scene. Something was not right at all. Fortek was already doing his best to martial the fighting force as Cathal took in more. Where was that damn Samuel again? Did he bring anything else with him outside of a fucking chopper?

However his eyes then snapped back onto the Mechari he had fired upon. Her shields had held up against the discharge shots and had was definitely reinforced. Then suddenly she pulled back and he was sure that when she did he saw the shimmer of a cloak. Was that were the kid Shiori had gone? The gunslinger's anger was rising as he noticed that the Dominion bastards weren't even remotely seeming to be in much trouble.

Cathal checked his revolver and reloaded two of the chambers. It was time he took a moment as he looked around the otherside of the wall. Nothing was there at all. Everything was just outside and filled with mayhem.

"Are there any signs of enemy stalkers?" he asked wondering if someone had snuck into the place when they were outside.

"This battle is too focused, has anyone noticed this seems a bit like a distraction?" he said over the com.

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
"Make yerself useful an' SHOOT!" Fortek yelled at Dylan as he ran off into the frey adding a parting snide jab of "By pullin' thuh trigger!"

Dylan was still rather miffed that his big 'blow up the dommie gunship' plan had fizzled without so much as single puff of smoke, but he couldn't help smirking at the granok's parting comment, "Hey. Who knew? He's got a sense of humor after all," he thought to himself as he peered through the smoke, trying to get his bearings and bring his weapons to bear on something.

He glanced once more at the gunship, hoping maybe it would still explode... that maybe the grenades rolled off the seat and hit the floor and triggered, but there was no satisfaction to be had. However, it looked like someone was bringing an attack to bear on the gunship. Two spinning blades of familiar-looking energy were currently closing on the chopper - launched from somewhere behind the saloon, "Hope Carna has better luck than I did," he muttered to himself recognizing her signature attack. Then, refocusing on the battle, he began to zig-zag through the smoke so as to make himself as uncooperative a target as possible to anyone who might be hoping to shoot him.

"Are there any signs of enemy stalkers?" It was Cathal's voice crackling over the team coms. "This battle is too focused, has anyone noticed this seems a bit like a distraction?" Cathal added as an afterthought.

"Haven't seen any stalkers, but that's kind of the point of a stalker, isn't it?" Dylan responded snarkily into his com device, "As for the distraction... distracting us from what?! How badly outnumbered and out gunned we are? Cause I think I'm pretty sharply focused on that particular fact at the moment!"

Dylan's commentary was cut short as he saw movement out of the corner of his eye and heard some frantic yelling in the direction of the mortar nest. Something seemed to be happening there that was causing a momentary distraction. Dylan took a deep breath and muttered to himself, "Okay, Hawke - time to stay focused. Let's go do some actual damage..." His two sentence self pep-talk trailed off into some muttered syllables that activated a speed sigil and propelled him forward at unnatural speeds as he charged the group of (he hoped) distracted dommie soldiers.

((He's headed towards the commotion caused by Najia when she charged the mortar nest))

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
The copter swung about in a sharp arc, Samuel nearly being thrown by the momentum but a vice like grip was his saving grace. Be it he left a small dent in the rail. It was never simple with the Malverines, to take stock as the pilot partook of evasive manoeuvres The opening attach had been greeted with small arms fire, as one might expect, then they had a rather odd visitor. He had been surprised to say the least by the sudden boisterous entrance and gone for his pistol only to see the grenades drop and Volex appear, some panic had seeped in at first as well as a quarter pint of adrenaline. But the effects had been somewhat...impudent as he saw Volex simple pocket the devices and now their pilot arced around to avoid two large spinning blades...

Never was dull was it.

Bloody marvellous!

The buzz of comm link flood his senses as well as a barrage of screen read outs. "ALL MOUNTED UNITS REROUTE CHARGE AND RETAKE MORTAR PLACEMENT!" he quickly priorities the targets, a deviation from the plan but he was somewhat known for his adaptability, the result would be the same he trusted. With that he twitched and his comms opens to the two mechari below. "Status report! we have the leverage? I REPEAT do we have the leverage?" he casually purrs as he draws his long barrelled pistol. With another lurch the Copter exposes his broad side to the group, his eyes adjusted and he saw the various valiant counter attack being made, impressive. He zoomed in noting Cathal. He smiled.

"PILOT! SWEEP PAST THE ESPER" The Copter jolted and began a low run, Samuel held on tight and leant out the side and steadied his artificial aim. The Esper was zig-zagging, he got another barrage of digital displays came into vision, aim, trajectory and pitch. He sighed, the girl was running erratically so he a tried and true method. He unloaded the clip of the high-calibre weapon in a mad spray towards her as they past. It was far more effective in his experience...also felt good too he had to admit, as he squeezed the trigger.

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
War was chaos. Regardless of your role in battle, if you could make sense out of that chaos you were a warrior. The best method of easing the hectic nature of fighting was to focus on a singular task and/or target. You focused on a goal and you did what you had to in order to get it done. Opie sought to focus through assessment.

He had been blown off his feet. He had landed behind some hoverbikes. He was close to the saloon. Close enough to determine damage, direction, and the simple fact that the chaos was just beginning. Yet he had kept his head down. He thought for sure it was a done situation. Superior position, superior firepower, and the element of surprise. A recipe for death pure and simple. Yet the damage was focused. The saloon was still standing. And while no doubt some causalities occurred, it was clear that these Dominion forces had a clear goal and purpose. If not, he would be staring at rubble rather than the firefight currently unfolding. Must have had something to do with that meeting earlier. Opie than smiled to himself, happy that his jacket was safe at the tailors down the street.

As Opie surveyed the scene from behind the hoverbikes. It wasn't looking good. While the core of the Malverines had regrouped and begun fighting back, it was clear that this battle was firmly in the control of the Dominion forces. Suddenly the owners of the hoverbikes Opie was ducking behind came scurrying up. Five of them total, armed gunslingers, and not particularly happy with the current situation.
"What the hell is going on here?" One of them asked.
"I have no idea. But you are here so make yourselves useful. You know the Dominion won't care if you are a bystander or not." Opie said roughly. "You have any weapons I can use?" He added quickly.
One of the gunslingers nodded toward the hoverbikes. "Rifles hooked to the satchels. Help yourself." Opie and the five strangers took the rifles, loaded up, and took up positions behind the bikes surveying the field.

"Okay. We got some crazy lady running towards the mortars. Lets reinforce her position with cover-fire. If we can create an opening in that area, we can force them to give-up that heavy fire position. Hopefully that will allow others to back her and we can hold that ground." Just as Opie finished his direction a helicopter came into view making a low run towards the young Aurin. "COPTER!! Cover Fire!!"

Opie and two others loosely aimed at the fast moving vehicle and held the trigger down praying for a little luck. The other three gunslingers took aim at the mortar location and began shooting wildly. All were simply hoping to force the Dominion soldiers to keep their heads down long enough for the Malervines to move into better position.

((The five gunslingers are NPC fodder. Added for Samuel's enjoyment, but sharing is caring. Also thanks Najia for the layout.))

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)

Fortek advanced on the Mortar position as Cathal and the others dealt with the other, specialized threats. By now he had reached the woods, and he could see the mortar group as they relocated. He aimed instead at the re-routing rough-riders. He might not be cavalry right now, but he'd be damned before letting some pansy dominion bikers even touch a Malverine, mounted or not. The Granok shot explosive rounds through and around the trees he was now surrounded by. He winced in regret as a few trees were hit by the spread of gunfire, knowing that some of the Aurin were especially fond of them. Shattered wood and bark joined the smoke and chaos in the air.

Velox almost smiled at the brief look of worry in Samuel's eyes. His mechanical features didn't have time, however, as the pilot's quick thinking almost knocked the Mechari overboard.. again. The sapient chrome being managed to dent a wall in his efforts to hold on as the chopper evaded the psyblades. Velox swore under his breath... "Body work is expensive..." he hissed.

Then the mechari looked to Samuel. "Requesting permission to join ground forces, sir!" said Velox with an uncommon amount of respect in his tone. Sam was his commanding officer, after all. Velox gestured out of the bay door, where the ground was much closer for the low run. A cord/cable ladder was ready to be hung down, if Velox wanted to risk a high-velocity transition to land.

Taru, in her current situation, remained completely still and silent. She tucked her tail between her legs and kept her ears flat against her skull. Those brilliant yellow eyes of hers were laden with fear, and her body shook erratically because of it. As the mechari launched them both towards 'safety', Taru went stiff and clamped her eyes shut tightly. Here's to hoping she wasn't snagged by any bullets.

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
Shiori blinked before ducking behind a tree as his cloak stabilized from the movement. Wincing slightly, the man rubbed at the glancing blow that his dermal armor redirected before he ducked away. He pulled up his retinal prosthesis to check over his cloaking system. The grid of fine induction wires connected to his deep-tissue control implant which, in turn, is linked to his cerebral interface seemed to work properly. Running a quick diagnostic also confirmed that the matrix layered directly beneath the surface of his epidermis ran optimally. He should have been invisible to the visible spectrum, so what gave him away?

Glancing around the tree, his eyes scanned his mark before ducking back and tossing out proximity mines around them to create a kind of net, trying to keep them low to prevent detection if possible. Afterwards, the young man slowly crept around the tree on the opposite side of the last throw he made. Shio crept forward slowly, moving with almost no trace of his passing at all save for the faintest of grass blades moving. Taking one final look at his munitions, he realized with a grin that the rest of his mines were in a bag next to the table where the artifact rested.

Once he got close enough the man struck with his blades as his cloak fell, revealing his form to his opponent. The young man was wearing fingerless, leather gloves that extended up midway on his forearm, but we're currently covered by his claws. Likewise, he was wearing tall leatherboots that he kept his pants tucked into and the pants themselves had many pockets for storing supplies or equipment in and was tied off with a toolbelt. Over everything else was a black long-coat with a green trim that was sleeveless and extended past his knees. The coat itself was cinched together with a green sash that tied off over his right hip.

Despite his choice of outfits, the man moved with a machine like grace and efficiency, never staying in one place at any one time as he danced around his opponent, claws lashing out seeming at random as he fought to overwhelm with confusion and moving in a lateral manner, not fighting straight up at all if he could avoid it.

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
Vermana backed as close to the scattered proximity mines as she could, attempting to keep distance and dodge the Stalkers attacks while she returned with her own. Unfortunately for her she was not fitted with any form of melee weapon, other than her sharpened fingers, which had some trouble breaking through shielding and armor.

The Mechari quickly took some damage to her arms and front. She felt no discomfort in taking damage; pain was nothing more than a warning, and she was confident that her body would hold up just fine to a few nicks and scratches. She'd need to polish herself up again once the artifacts were secured.

It was clear the Stalker wasn't keen on fighting close-quarters, as he dodged back and forth, aiming blows at her with his claws. His attacks would take a lot more force to do more than scratch her metal chassis, but she did not have many options in terms of defense, just yet. Vermana faced her aggressor and held her ground, while firing her sidearm into the Stalker's shields with extreme accuracy.
If he was not deterred, she had a backup in mind; she would intentionally detonate his explosives, likely taking care of him while she could simply put herself back together afterward. Explosives at her feet would do nothing to damage her core. But it would be a shame to have to reassemble herself. Wasting time doing that rather than killing exiles would be most inefficient.

RE: Preseason - Episode 2: The Church Raid (OPEN)
Teek was following behind Najia, his arms laden with several boxes of goods. He was simply in his stand apparel which ended up with him looking more like a tomboy than anything but with him any little bit of masculinity he could get, he would take. The same shockwave that floored Najia dropped him flat on his rear and the topmost boxes down on his head, dousing him with some exotic flavoring... which unfortunateantly ended up making him smell like he'd fallen into a cartload of perfume. He pushed himself to his feet "Uh... what the?" he asked looking around. He shook his head to clear out the cobwebs "We're under attack?" he asked as Najia charged off presumably to where those mortars were coming from.

So being the Aurin that he was he simply chased after her and yelled in a vain attempt to stop her "Damnit! Najia, wai-" he started to say but he cut off as he caught sight of something shimmer off to the female's four o'clock. He didn't even pause to think, in a dead run he reached down to his hip and in the blink of an eye had a pistol out. It spun once as it left the holster and he fired a shot. It hit the stalker center mass dropping it as it tore a chunk out of his chest. Teek didn't even slow down. "Wait up dangnabit!"
