[Open] Girrok Rampage (9/2/13)

RE: [Open] Girrok Rampage
((Micky, you've made my day with that.))

The larger of the Girrok had roared ferociously loud at the onslaught of noises that were beginning to bombard its senses. One moment all that could be heard after the electric shot, was the thundering of their paws slamming on the ground while rampaging onward to the target within its mind... and the next there were people firing about them again.

Eyes whipped about rapidly, trying to keep up with the new mayhem that was befalling them, only to suddenly swerve from the path of a falling tree, yet that didn't seem to be enough as another fell after it. With a howling cry, the pack of beasts had shifted, attempting to move out of the way, yet as each tree fell down with it, it soon found them blocked off entirely from the set path.

Halting to a stop, it growled, watching a few of the smaller Girrok try to claw through the tree to no avail. Releasing a pained cry, it seemed that Cathal's plan had indeed worked.

--

Corvo looked up, blinking a few times then gazed towards the machine hovering near him. "So they finally did it. And ahead of time." He announced more to himself, than to them. Though that paled in comparison to the notification he had received minutes before.

Tapping a few keys, he smirked.

--

The pained cries of the Girrok had continued, even escalated into a louder and more anguished pitch. But after a few minutes, it had suddenly quieted. Something though, had released a powerful roar that shook a good part of the area.

((Part two now begins))

RE: [Open] Girrok Rampage
Cathal's eyes had zeroed in on the scene as his attacks sliced into the trees. To hold summon multiple sigils and then hit the targets percisely was a difficult achievement. The man was a gunslinger by trade, and even then to be able to shoot such things was pushing his ability. When he had stopped to get a look at the trees he had expected them to fall down haphazardly. However, a few minutes later the trees began to creak and shake. The sections that had been cut began to give into the stress and finally the cracking of branches fell as Cathal shifted his back and drove a bit away as he neared the rendezvous point.

Where is the lass and the lad eh? I hope they didn't go get themselves kilt. That would be an utter shame really. Cathal lit another cigarette and began to smoke as the large trees finally shuddered one more time and pushed past the branches. The sliding motion they carried was slow and then suddenly they fell faster and faster. Long thick trunks that had weathered for ages on Nexus and now they were acting as the cage for the large girroks.

His little break was suddenly broken as he caught a speeding form nearing the point. Then a figure leaped forward and delivered some sort of attack upon a tree nearby. Interesting.

"Good ta see ye joinin me lass, where's the lad?" he asked over the com as he then stopped. It was time to drop the hammer. He held aloft his guns and used his goggles to locate the next set of targets. They had to just drop the biggest of the nearby trees on top the waiting creatures. He was about to start that when he swore he heard a roar.

"Did anyone else just hear that?"[/i]

Jedidiah would have responded to the woman's quick-witted dialogue but she took off faster than he was able to facilitate words. A sigh escaped through his lips and his eyes flashed across to the dormant node she had set aside for his hover. He quickly thought back to his time purchasing the bike and a playful smirk caressed his features. This did not last however, as he suddenly realized he hadn't the luxury of time to recollect.

He dug his hands into one of the saddlebags and fished out a spanner then proceeded to unfasten several nuts holding the engine in place. He removed the steel plating guarding said engine and tilted his head, observing the damage. "Shit. The link's been fused with the damn wiring." he breathed through his teeth and wrapped a hand firmly around the damaged node and gave a mighty tug, freeing the wires, a few sparks expelling from the exposed connectors. "Right, just gotta . ." he dropped the fresh node into the socket and almost immediately the vehicle roared to life, the engine's neon blue haze pulsating lively as it whirred away. "There! Atta' girl. I knew ye had it in ya'." He grinned and ran his hand along the bike's side before hauling himself onto the seat. He gripped the handlebars and revved the hover. He had made sure to deactivate the distress beacon and turn on his comm before peeling off through the forest.

The man's gristly voice chimed in through the local channel once more, "Sorry 'bout that, Cap. Had somethin' of a engine trouble. I'm good now, though. What's the plan? Lass, you 'ere as well?" he sighed in relief as he sped across the land towards the rampaging Girrok. He slowed down a bit noticing the tree collapse in onto the large group.

A massive roar echoed through the treeline and reached Jed's ears, causing his eyes to widen. "...Ehhh. Cap, what in the /hell/ was that, eh?" he glanced around, keeping an eye out for whatever could be approaching them.

Jane cursed herself some more, power failures happened but did it have to be now? At least the Cap’s plan appeared to have succeeded, the Girrok piled on top of each as the front line came to a sudden halt, and the back end of the mob met it with a painful collection of cries and a nasty sounding crunch. She briefly thought of the insects stuck to the front of her hoverbike. She needed to clean that soon. Her attention shifted to the voice that rejoined the ruckus. “Got 'er up and runnin' again, didcha? Aye, me and Cap watchin’ the show over here at the tre..” An explosion cut through their communication, “What the fuck is it now?” She sprinted back to her bike and leapt into the seat. Untangling the goggles from her hair, she brought the display field back down in front of her eyes.

“Cap, that you on the other side o’ them trees, right?” She watched the display ping what was probably his location. Another blip was moving in, coming from the direction of the downed rider from earlier. But, none of that explained the other indicator pinging softly from the other side of the torn up terra firma. “Hey Cap or Rattles, either o’ you got eyes on the area? I don’t think us and these roks are the only ones out here.”

It was at this point that the mass herd of Girrok had begun to fold in upon themselves, as if bowing in respect towards whatever had released the loud bellow of a howl.

Shortly after, another shook through the ground, though the tone it held didn't sound as menacing. The herd let out their own growls and roars, responding in their own unique way. Seems they understood whatever it was meaning to say.

-----

Corvo tapped rapidly on his datapad, watching each string of information come to it, relaying bit after bit of information about the status of his most favorite subject out of the whole experiment. "That's a good boy, 47..." Seeing one more thing read out across the screen, his lips peeled upwards into a rather twisted grin. Lowering the device, he would easily move from behind the tree, pocketing it and both of his hands.

"Now. Come to your Master." He uttered the words, sensing his machine that floated nearby to keep up the slow pace, as well as relaying the command.

-----

It started slow, the grounds just barely shaking with each thunderous step taken towards the packs of individuals. Though as time passed if they didn't move to see what it was, soon the remaining trees would begin to rustle, even parting some as a large mass broke through them at a leisurely pace. A rather menacing blue tinted Girrok, twice the size from the one that led the heard could be seen making its way through, eyes seemingly focused on something.

Gazing upon the ones who seemed responsible in 'caging' its fellow Girrok, the steps stopped, claws spreading a bit as though taking a defensive position.

RE: [Open] Girrok Rampage (9/2/13)
Things were not going well. That was a complete and utter understatement. He was in plain view as the other two began to speak to him. The Captain as they were calling him was looking out over the tumble and rough of the fallen trees. Rumbles and sounds were coming from the tangle of trees his eyes narrowed in as he watched some of the thick trunks begin to shift.

Cathal had been waiting quietly to see the result and the fact that things were starting to move was not good. He began to reach for his flask to get a taste of whiskey. His eyes flicked across the tangle as he reached down and checked his coat. One of his coat buttons had become undone and he refastened it. His hands carefully redid it as he felt the leather gloves pull over his skin. Things were going to go well.

That's when something moved into view.

"Fuck." He said as he pulled his goggles back over his eyes and activated a binocular view on them. There out from whatever was going on was a new foe. A large bluish Girrok that was looking around for whoever had toppled the trees. The fingers around the guns the man held tightened. He checked his revolver and noted he only had a few shots left. The man holstered the revolver and reloaded the clip for his semi-auto pistol.

"Seems that is the bigger brotha heh," he said and sighed. Things were about to get even messier.

"The fuck is that?" Jane tapped the comm to keep the line open and wrestled the hover bike around to face the captain's ping. She gunned the engine and shot forward. "I'm comin' yer way Cap. Rattles, if yer out there, head for the south side of this mob. I don't think this is over just yet."

Jane pushed the goggles against her face and let the wind drag tendrils of red hair out behind her head as she raced toward the captain. She registered only some of the passing scenery, most of her focus was on coming up with a plan. Too big to throw anything in it's path. No way we could get a crater opened up fast enough to contain it. A shadow changed the colors of the landscape as she sped close to the base of hill. A good sized one, too. Might be high enough to be lethal if something that big fell from the top. "Hey, Cap. I got an idea. How do you feel 'bout playin' a game of scrab and mouse with that thing?"

"Roger that, Miss - but, what've ye got up yer sleeve, hm?" Jedidiah directed his cycle South and sped madly towards the rendezvous point, his eyes snapping to the behemoth Girrok lumbering in the distance. "Oi, oi, oi! Lass, that plan of yours better be /hella'/ good, 'cus I don't see this ending too well fer any o' us if that beast reaches the town." he exhaled through his teeth and looked upon the clearing ahead of him. As he rode, thoughts surged through his head, constantly analyzing the situation at hand. How are we gonna' take down this monster. Maybe we could . . No.. Agh! Jed growled with frustration as his bike's engine whined from being pushed past its limit.

RE: [Open] Girrok Rampage (9/2/13)
Corvo had continued to walk forward, at least until something beeped near him. It was his probe alerting him to being within radar vicinity of the ones trying to stop the girrok he had released. "Hmmm... Should I let them play with him?" Shrugging slightly, he stilled eventually...

-----

47 had gazed at them with large eyes, taking each of them in, then looking back at the herd of its brethren that were stuck and barred by the collapsed trees. The abundance of crystals that coated its hide had begun to light up... Electricity had begun to crack along it's fur, though instead of focusing, it radiated down along it's legs as well. Definitely a much stronger version it would appear. As it fell in place and gathered near 47's mouth, the maw opened and a powerful roar erupted once more.

The large strike of energy ripped upon the ground and through the trees in its intensity, shredding the wood and bark. Flames sparked in place. Instead of turning it towards them, it stopped shortly afterwards.

The flock of remaining girrok howled in response, before turning and beginning to stalk away their respective ways... definitely away from the town. With them out of the way, 47 took another step forward, and growled menacingly towards Cathal and his group, seeming to have brought the focus back on them as the crystals began to light up again.

RE: [Open] Girrok Rampage (9/2/13)
If Cathal had ever held thoughts of being part of the Vigilant Church he would have said a prayer to the Scions at the moment. The big ass ugly mother was probably going to be the primary source oc problems in the near future. Whoever, had created the thing was a monster straight out of the worst dreams of the earliest Cassian colonists. His eye locked onto the thing as he heard the woman saying something to him.

"Scrab' an' mouse sounds good. Just lead the way lass," he said with a smile. There was little to no time to make the decision and so he worked with the idea through before the bloody monstrosity began to roar as the wood around the girroks started to roar or something did. That was when the wood exploded and a hole appeared. A moment later the larger mutated girrok was freed and then its crystalline back glowed again.

"Feck."
