Today is Not the Day I Die (Closed)
Date: (1/10/2014)
Location: Unknown Dominion Holding Facility
Time of Day / Weather: Dusk, Currently Overcast.

"Where are they taking me?" the question raced through Kaistiel's head more than once since the blindfold had covered her eyes and she had been taken from her bed. Her ears flicked back and forth, trying in vain to pick up a clue of her whereabouts. Nothing stood out, nothing to be heard aside from the rustling of the wind through the leaves or the occasional snap of a twig being stepped on. After what felt like and eternity her escort finally stopped and tugged on Kaistiel's wrist, signaling for her to stop as well. An eriee silence permeated the setting until suddenly the blindfold was ripped from her face to the sound of "SURPRISE!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAISTIEL!!!" Kaistiel's lip quivered for a moment, caught between a glare and a grin. After a split second the grin won out and widen across her face. They hadn't forgotten after all. Her mum and dad where there on a picnic blanket, complete with cake. Her little sister Kyladri was there as well, bouncing up and down with a small, hastily wrapped package in her hands. "Open it! Open it! I picked it out all by myself." Kyladri wasn't one for patience, but it put another grin on Kaistiel's face nonetheless. She graciously accepted the gift and carefully tore into the wrapping. She reached in and pulled out a silver pendant. It was made of interwoven strands of metal that caught the sunlight and threw it back out in a colorful display. She was about to try it on when a noise in the distance caused her to stop.

It was unlike anything she had heard before....a loud metallic groan, a low pulsing roar followed by what sounded like a dozen trees hitting the ground. Her eyes darted towards her parents, but they just sat there seemingly unconcerned. Her mum smiled up at her, "Come dear, blow out your candles, it's not every day your turn eighteen." Kaistiel wrinkled her nose, her tail twitching uneasily. Was she just imagining that noise? She attempted to shrug it off and turned back towards the cake, the candles twinkling brightly, like little stars. She took a deep breath and got ready to blow them out but her breath caught in her throat. There is was again! The noise, followed by a rending crash.....this wasn't right, something was wrong. She glances back at her family, the cake is in her mum's hands being held out towards her, expectant eyes waiting for her to act. She buried her doubts deep within her self and inhaled deeply. With a rush the air in her lungs expelled towards the candle flames, extinguishing all but one. She took another breath, forcing herself to ignore the noise as it grew ever closer. With one final effort she attempts to blow the final candle out. The flame gutters for a moment and then springs to her mum's hand. "This isn't right...something is wrong...very, very wrong..." Kaistiel thinks to herself, her heart starting to beat a bit more rapidly. Her eyes widen as she watches the flame grow and spread. First it travels up her mum's hand, then onto her arm until she is fully engulfed in the flame. Kaistiel stares in horror, unable to move, unable to speak as the flames spread from her mum to her dad and then finally to her sister. They stare at her, smiling as the flames lick at their features. Their smiles start to sag, dripping like tallow from the candles. "Happy birthday dear." A scream of abject horror finally bubbles out of Kaistiel's throat... "Nooooo!!!!"

She lurches awake, heart racing, head throbbing. "No, no, no no...." her rasping whimper trails off as the dream fades into the darker recesses of her sub-consciousness. "It was just a dream...nothing more. Get a grip Kaistiel, hold it together. Today is not the day you die." she chastises herself, sagging back onto the cold stone floor, shaking but not allowing herself any tears.

As she sags back to the floor, she goes into her routine. She reaches down and runs her hands across her feet, up her ankles and across the rest of her body. As always she checks for new scars, new evidence of what they are doing to her while she sleeps. She pauses at both her ankles and her wrists, "Manacles? This is something new," she muses to herself. Typically her restraints are a bit more technologically advanced than the rudimentary restraints she now finds herself in. "Looks like the Dommies are making budget cuts now," she mutters to no one in particular. She goes about her routine, making note off the fresh scars on her thighs, the twin incisions on the back of her neck, and the flat metal disks that were either attached or implanted to the backs of each of her hands, their purpose unknown. She then moves her left hand towards the wall, it was time to make another mark, some sort of way to note the passing of time in this hellish existence.

She freezes half way through the motion...in the dim light there are no former scratches to be seen. She leans forward against her chains, her hand scrabbles against the stone wall, trying to find her former marks.... "Stone?" her mind starts to race, a frenzied journey through her senses before the jarring realization sets in. They were no longer aboard a ship, the taste of scrubbed air had been replaced by fresh, albeit a bit musty air. The noise of the sub-light engines had been replaced by an eirie stillness. Perhaps the end of her waiting was near, perhaps she would get to see the sun again, one last time. She curls herself up in the corner that is her new home, her tail wrapping around her. Her hand goes to her neck, wishing that somehow the necklace from her sister was still there, but all she had been left with after her capture was her nightmares.....and a sliver of hope.

"Curses are blessings with darker wrappings."

Carna lay with her body pressed firmly against the large branch of a tree. Her large bat-like ears pressed onto her head as to not be noticed by any wandering eyes, and mop of blond hair tied back in a ponytail to stay out of her eyes. Her fluffy yellow tail only twitched a little bit at the tip. With one eye closed, and the other looking through a scope looking, she observes the scene in front of her. "Now, now let's see what we have here..." Carna mumbles to herself as she examines the area below her.

Nexus had some good trees. None like the trees from Arboria, but good trees nonetheless. Carna had been out on her usual day of gallivanting around Nexus, except this day she had received information about a new Dominion outpost set up in some old facility. Sure enough through the scope she sees the large floating banners of the Dominion with a few foot shoulders walking around doing their rounds. "Hmm. not too busy, obviously very new," She murmers, "Could be easy to get some supplies... Medicine and the like." Carna moves her scope and places it in front of her on the tree branch. Next she pulls out a communicator and sets it to the secure channel. "Hey guys, followed up on some info I received and it seems good. If you want to have a little fun and burn down a dominion outpost come to these co-ordinates. You'll find me. I'll wait 20 minutes to half an hour. Then I'll just have to have all the fun to myself." Carna turns off her comm and picks up her scope one last time and surveys the area one last time. Yes. Yes this looked like a good.

Carna puts her scope away in one of the pockets of her brown coat. She moves carefully and low on the branch to the truck of the tree. Once at the trunk she goes around the other side of it and slides down it without a care in the world. At the bottom lay her bike. Carna approaches her bike and begins opening compartments. She pulls out gloves, and bags and things. After that she checks her psyblade that was on her back, and the rest of her gear, like her boots and things.

Carnatia then leans against her bike and waits to see if anyone else was going to come in her time limit.

Trouble was a young friend who always showed up at the wrong times. Hence why it was trouble. To Cathal complications of his life were an unsung curse placed upon him by the Talyn. It was running game for members of his family to find someway to blay anything upon the feud. Even kicking the dog. "The Talyn's made me do it." Was a common idiom tossed out to supplement the woes of a scattered Clan.

Then there were times that he couldn't be so damn nonchalant and had to play here. Then as he was doing a bit of lazing upon his bike in the middle of no where near Gallow something popped over the com. Well it was more of a delayed message as he opened it and read the transcript on the HUD on the bike. His eyes lit up at the prospect of raiding a Dominion facility.

"Reggie, send a coded message ta Carna, let har know tat I be joinin' har," he trilled after a moment.

"Yes right away Mister Reily," the AI registered before sending the message to Carna's personal inbox. Cathal then slipped on helmet, and honed on the coordinates provided by his Treasury Officer. it was time for the Boss to have some fun.

Coming into the bar, Zakk laid his tool belt on the nearest stool, The past couple of days had been interesting, getting back to repairs would be a nice change of pace. Hammering and screwing in reinforcement plates into the bar, Zakk hummed to himself. As he was working, a steady beeping in Zakk's ear alerted him to an incoming comm form a member of the club. Moving a strand of his dreadlocks out of his eyes, Zakk pressed the earpiece.

"Hey guys, followed up on some info I received and it seems good. If you want to have a little fun and burn down a dominion outpost come to these co-ordinates. You'll find me. I'll wait 20 minutes to half an hour. Then I'll just have to have all the fun to myself."

"Hmm," Zakk said out loud, "Best if she had some backup just in case..." Collecting his Mag Pistols, Zakk headed to his auto quad. Walking through the doors of the saloon, Zakk reached into his pocket and retrieved his tablet. With a quick two or three swipes Betty responded, storing her construction gear and reverting back into a standard heavy off road quad.
Sitting in the cushioned seat, Zakk plugged the tablet into the dashboard, setting the nav system to head to the location of the call, "Well here we go." he thought to himself as Betty roared to life.

RE: Today is Not the Day I Die (Closed)
Memories flitted through Kaistiel's mind like motes of dust through a beam of light. Flickering past seemingly slow, but ever changing, never staying. Memories were all she had left and as the years dragged on they were getting harder and harder to hold onto, fragments of a life that was, a life that was no more.

She shifts restlessly in the corner of her cell, arms wrapped tightly around her in a futile attempt to keep out the cool, musty air. How long had she been in this new holding cell, what horrors awaited her here? She bites her lip hard, a silent rebuke to herself to not think thoughts like this. Then suddenly, breaking the silence, the sound of metal groaning in protest as it scrapes against metal can be heard. Kaistiel's ears perk up quickly, like curious rodents peeking out of their holes to see if a predator is nearby. Just as quickly they flatten back against her skull, the predator is near and there is no hole to retreat into.

Across the room a square-like panel rolls back and a metal orb jolts out, a bit to quickly it would seem, bangs against the corner and then straightens back out until it hovers in mid-air ominously. It squeaks a bit, as if someone forgot to oil it's servos as it flits closer to the Aurin in the corner. A soft blue light emits from a small opening in the front of it, scanning the room first and then Kaistiel herself before flying off to where the chains were mounted in the wall. A myriad of squacks and clicks emit from the orb as it busies itself with the restraints. Kaistiel here's a loud clank and a staticky voice emits from the orb "Aha! That should do the trick!"

Kaistiel's ears shoot up once again, this time in surprise. She lunges towards the orb but is brought up painfully short, the manacles digging into the flesh of her wrists. She pulls against them, pushing the pain down with a slight grimace. "Who are you, you bastards?! Show yourselves you fuc......" her voice stops abruptly as an arc of blue electricity shoots from the orb and into her reaching finger tips. She slumps forward against her chains, willing herself not to fall.

"Tsk tsk, my my what sort of manners did my predecessors teach you eh?" the soft, almost lilting voice chatters through the orbs voicebox again. "Let us see what I'm working with here....hmmm: Doesn't play well with others, likes to bite, resistant to indoctrination....not suitable for further testing." the voice continues, as if reading from a checklist, punctuated with a rather malicious giggle. "I always did like to play with the broken toys, it's always so much fun to see what one can do with the pieces. Come now, lets see what I've got to work with now." the voice giggles again and in the back of her electrically frazzled mind Kaistiel can feel pressure against her wrists and ankles, stubbornly tugging her back towards the wall. She fights against the inevitable end like a caged animal, but metal alloys are stronger than sheer will and she soon finds herself spread eagle against the wall, her restraints retreating into recesses in the wall and leaving her exposed and vulnerable. She bites hard again on her lip, this time a canine punctures the dry, cracked skin and blood wells up, dark and crimson. Her tongue darts out to collect it and then she flashes the giggling orb a bloody smile. Hanging there against the wall, a pale spectre, defiant to the last.... "What are you waiting for Dommie scum?" she says, "Lets do this."

"Curses are blessings with darker wrappings."

Carna checks the time and looks around. She heaves a sigh. Maybe no one was close enough. What losers. The idea of sacking a Dommie base and not a single pers- Oh hello, she got a message. Carna is terrible at noticing such things right away, and usually takes forever for her to respond but nonetheless. Carna checks the message. It was the text message from Cathal saying he would come. Oh great the boss was coming, good. he should hopefully be there soon.

Before long Cathal did arrive. They briefly exchanged welcomes, and Carna gave Cathal the run down of what she had seen, "Not too heavily guarded, but it is guarded. This site looks very new, so they must have a smaller squadron present. I believe we can knock out the guards an any oppositions easily, and then we can take what we want, load up our bikes, and get the hell out of dodge." She tells him. She also explains they'd wait a little longer to see if anyone else shows up. Sure enough, shortly after another arrives, which is Zakk.

Carna gives Zakk the rundown she had given Cathal then says, "Now lets do this, and let's do this swiftly. Avoid killing. Yeah I know they'll be shooting at us, to kill us, but if we kill them and make a blood bath out of this base, then we only affirm in their Dominion minds what many think about us. We don't need to be hardened killers. We good? Good," She says without letting the others interject, "Let's move out."

Carna swings her leg over her bike as she climbs into it. She checks the engine and revs the machine to life. She puts goggles around her eyes and looks at Cathal and Zakk. She nods at them, and takes off leading the charge and showing them the way.

RE: Today is Not the Day I Die (Closed)
Pale eyes stare definitely at the approaching droid. She was not going to let this one take any pleasure in seeing her flinch or shy away. There was a time to cower, a time to hide deep inside the recesses of her own mind, but this was not such a time. Kaistiel sneers at the metallic orb as it darts here and there, either checking vitals or reacations to its presence, one could not be sure. After a few moments of scrutiny it darted up to the implants on her hands and a small, segmented metal arm extends from it and begins to tinker around.

"What the f....." pain lances down Kaistiel's arms, a fiery explosion of screaming nerve endings, causing her to swoon momentarily and lose the opportunity to once again berate her captors. When she is eventually able to blink away the stars that are swimming in her vision, her eyes flicker over to her arms, past her elbows, up to her hands and from there her eyes only grow larger from disbelief. Three wicked metal blades, curving like the talons of some beast glint in the harsh light. She gazes at them with a mixture of both awe and horror.....what had they done to her, what had they turned her into? The questions rocket through her head as she examines the new extensions of herself. Distantly she wonders why there is blood marring the otherwise perfect mettle and almost says something when she is interrupted by her unwelcome companion. "My my, well now...you must have made my predecessors rather upset for them to not have made proper sheathes for your weaponry. It would seem they valued functionality over comfort. Never you mind though deary, the nano-bots will repair any damage, in those parts, in theory that is, and the pain will keep you sharp."

Kaistiel closes her eyes, willing herself to wakeup from this eternal nightmare, willing the talons to disappear. She feels her hands throbbing and is aware of a giddy cackling coming from the orbs voicebox once again... "Oh my my my, look how quickly she learns and adapts? This is going to be exciting! We will show those upstarts!" Kaistiel cracks an eyelid back open, curiosity getting the better of her (It's ok, she's not a cat). She glances at her hands again, only to see that the claws have retreated back into their sheathes, just like she'd wanted them to. She opens her cracked lips, a question on her tongue that must be asked......and that's when the alarms started going off.

"Curses are blessings with darker wrappings."

RE: Today is Not the Day I Die (Closed)
Cathal arrived in his usual manner, with a dust cloud at his back and his long duster whipping around him. He arrived in short order and noted that appeared Zakk was also going to be joining the raid team as his signature appeared on the com interface. The entire little prep meeting they had was a bit fast paced. Cathal acknowledged Carnatia taking point on the operation and reviewed the information in his head one more time.

When Zakk arrived he gave the young Prospect (who he was sure was going to be earning his patch soon) and stepped off his bike to give the man a clap on his back.

"Time ta raid sum dommie arse," he chuckled before returning toward his ride and checking it over. The poor thing had been a bit testy in the past few days and he was worried about the old girl. He then took a moment to check over his mag pistols and retrieved the strange pair he wielded. The revolver covered in strange archaic designs and marked with an Exile skull, and then its more streamlined sister, a finely crafted Dominion piece.

That was when Carnatia took point and was off. Cathal gave a quick shrug and powered on after her. Time to to get a raidin'

"Heh, les us shoot sum damn Dommies."

RE: Today is Not the Day I Die (Closed)
Zakk pushed one of his dreadlocks off of his face as he looked towards Carna and Cathal, raiding a Dominion base would be a good distraction from the recent events and there might be some good building materials he could put to good use in the saloon. As he dismounted Betty, Zakk listened to the quick briefing from the Aruin and nodded in agreement. "Non lethal, got it...kneecaps and shoulders only." "Time ta raid sum dommie arse," the boss said after clapping Zakk on his back. Checking his Mag Pistols, Zakk switched the magazine out for an old world revolver cylinder. As Zakk walked back over to Betty, he loaded a set of EMP stun rounds, they could kill if a square hit was landed to the heart or head, but the were mostly harmless.

As Carna and Cathal rode off, Zakk hit the ignition on Betty, the Quad roaring to life under him. Speeding off after the two, Zakk couldn't help but smile, "Every day is something new around here."

RE: Today is Not the Day I Die (Closed)
While streaching, he turned and looked over at his alarm clock. It was flashing midnight, he sighed. Lucky he had been doing this for three years, and his body would naturally wake him up a bit early. Grabbing his watch he saw that it was 1900, half an hour before he was supposed to be on post. Not enough time for him to shower and eat, oh well.

Getting out of bed he rolled over grabbing his uniform pants from where it was hanging up next to the bed, throwing them on he walked to the bathroom and ran some soap and water over his face and looked into the mirror.

"Only three more months. Home free." He had been in for three years, on a four year contract, he was done. He walked back over to his locker and opened an instant ready meal. Grabbing spoonfuls and stuffing it into his mouth, he grabbed his blouse, looking at the insignia stating he was a squad leader. Hopefully his team leaders would have everyone ready by time he got there.

Throwing the last of his meal away he put his blouse on, grabbed his rifle and pistol and headed towards his team. After doing a full check of all their gear he sent them off to their posts and headed back towards the armoury. Switching his rifle for his custome made sniper he took off towards his post. Heading up to the roof he took his spot in the eagles nest. He had been a designated marksman since he could remember.

"All teams roger up." He said into his radio. After hearing all nine of his squad roger up he looked over at the other DM. "Should be a fun night," he said out loud.
